This was a small movie theatre that was at the end of a small shopping center. Across the street from the shopping center is the St. James Roman Catholic Church. While the church was being built, Sunday services were held at the theatre. It closed in 1972 and after a few changes is now an AID Auto Store.

The owner of the theatre eventually opened up the PJ Twins in Port Jefferson, which was one of the first multiplexes around.

This theater was operated by A.I.T. Theaters in the early seventies. This was an Oceanside, NY-based chain that operated in several NY cities at the time.

Ken, do you have any other info on A.I.T.’s history?

I think this theater closed in the late 1970’s. It was located in a shopping center that still stands. Ace Hardware currently occupies the location. An AID Autoparts previously was in the location.
