News About This Theater

AMC Classic Granite Run 8

The AMC Granite Run 8 was west of Philadelphia in the suburb of Delaware County. It was located at the Route 1 side of the Granite Run Mall, just south of Media. It opened on December 12, 1986. The auditoriums were not stadium seated, but did have digital sound. In 1997, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the theatre had a seating capacity for 1,991.

In 2014, it was announced that the mall would be demolished with new retail space replacing it, and a new multiplex replacing this one. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was announced in November 2020 that the closure would be permanent and it was demolished in 2021.

I remember seeing"Ghost “ there in summer of 90, and this guy drove up in his truck right up to doors all rude and parked his truck there with his radio balring; not a care in the world.

The whole Granite Run mall is being demolished? It as a great mall. I went to the theater twice, once in 1991 to see The Prince Of Tides and in 2007 to see Harry Potter. It was always a great neighborhood.
