Located in the capitol city of Abidjan, in the Republic country formerly known as the Ivory Coast in West Africa.
Totally open to the sky, the Rex Open Air Cinema had a flat earth area in front of the screen. Seating was provided in a tiered area at the rear (some of this seating was located under a balcony). The balcony was totaly open to the elements and the seating in this area was on hard wooden benches.
The Rex Open Air Cinema was most likely operating from the 1930’s.
There was a small concrete block raising above and behind the balcony which contained the projection booth.
