That’s my picture, not sure how it got posted here. That is my Grandmother’s writing on the picture. She, Myrtle Paine Waters owned and operated this theatre. My family still ownes the building. It is located next to my grandparents home on Joy Street. We still own the home there as well,it is used current as the office for our family businesses. The Pines building is rented to the Rescue Ministry and BJ’s Flower Basket just recently closed. There were live music shows there with many big, top country stars of the day and they also showed movies. This venue was the first place Dolly Parton played for a paying audience and the theatre was reproduced at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.

It is located at 103 Joy Street, Sevierville TN, 37862, and is currently home to BJ’s Florist and the Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministry Thrift Store. Google Dolly’s Hometown Tour via BarzMedia.com for more history.

According to the copy by the granddaughter of the owners, the building is still located on Joy Street. Her description is under her photo of the Pines Theatre that I just posted.

It was located between the buildings that are now at 204 Parkway and 218 Parkway, so its address was approximately 210 Parkway,

It opened in 1944 and closed in 1957.

Does anyone know the street the theatre was located on and/or when it closed?
