Embassy Theatre

The Theatre Royal opened on March 11, 1915. The architect was Hugh C. Grierson. Renovation in the 1950’s included a name change to the Embassy Theatre. Despite protests, the theater was demolished in 1994.

There is no town in New Zealand called Waikato.

In this general area there were:

  1. Hamilton – Everybodys, 1920’s, renamed Embassy 1946, registered seating cap. 995

  2. Thames – Kings, 1911, renamed Embassy 1951, registered seating cap. 651

No Royal theatre/cinema have been renamed “Embassy” or any other name.
