The 13-screen Virgin multiplex cinemas opened on 3rd April 1998 and are located off Bristol Road South in the southwest Birmingham district of Rubery. In 2004 it was taken over by UGC, followed shortly afterwards in 2005 by Cineworld.
Empire Cinemas took over in late-2006 and it was re-named Empire Cinema. Seating capacities in the screens range from 523, down to 82.

When this cinema first opened it was the only multiplex to have all screens THX certified in the UK. Sadly when UGC took over the Virgin group, they did not bother with THX anymore.
This is one of three Empire Cinemas locations, following on from the Empire Leicester Square, that will have an IMAX screen:

According to Empire’s Auditorium Information page, Screen 7 will be the IMAX screen, and is due to open June 11 for Jurassic World.
Does anyone happen to know the measurements of the IMAX screen at this cinema?
