The Rainbow Theatre was opened prior to 1938. By 1950 it was operated by Long Theaters. It was still open in 1957.

The loss of Rainbow Theatre joins the many losses of the historic Freedman’s Town/Fourth Ward in Houston, Texas. I attended a couple movies at Rainbow Theatre as a child with my older sisters. It was a new experience and one that I will not forget. Best Western Hotel now stands at the 907 West Dallas Street location of Rainbow Theatre.
Cinema Treasures is truly needed and I am glad to have found it when researching a project. Thank you.
