The Sky Way Drive-In opened on March 20th, 1953. Grand opening ad posted.

Even the screen’s skeleton is gone now; a new housing project has occupied the site since around 2016.

Another three headed monster puzzle. I found aerial photos for three different drive-ins located in Valdosta.

273 Bemiss Rd, Valdosta, GA 31605

N Ashley St & Oak Street Extension, Valdosta, GA 31602

N Forrest St & Myrtle St, Valdosta, GA 31601

Have names for two of them, Skyway Drive-In (N Ashley) and Martin Drive-in (Bemiss Rd) but no name for the N Forrest St location.

Does anyone have a drive-in listing for Valdosta which isn’t on CT yet?

The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in.

Here is a 1970 aerial photo of the drive-in, courtesy of Earth Explorer and USGS.

Any idea where on Bemiss this theater is located? I Street Viewed the whole street from Valdosta to Moody AFB and I didn’t see anything that looked like a theater. There’s a very good chance I missed it, and I’ll try again, but…

Now that I think about it Mike I believe you are right Martin was based in Georgia may it was their Division office or city office the was at the Tennessee Theatre. Our city Managers office was at the LOEWS CRESCENT and other 2 called in their monies there ever night, then we would call Dallas Texas our Divsion H.Q. and then they would finally call New York with the figures, kind of a roundabout way to do it.

Okay, okay, Most of my relatives are from Tennessee,Iam not knocking the VOL state.I just made a mistake, one of the MANY i havemade on CT. I really thought they were out of Georgia. However,my Atlanta statement was wrong. According to my 1956 orange Motion Picture Almanac MARTIN THEATRES were based in Columbus,GEORGIA!!! 1308 Broadway. In 1956. They could have moved to Nashville later.

Of course,THE MARTIN DRIVE-in was owned by MARTIN THEATRES. They also ran the Forest Drive in, in that city.
