This was actually located just outside Montezuma in Oglethorp. Close address is 2180 GA-49, Oglethorpe, GA 31068. This maps to a Gas station, the drive-in was across the road. It’s present in a 1956 aerial but completely demolished by 1970.

Opened in June 1950, the owner, Ernest Martin apparently would take his employees on annual fishing trips to Florida. – From Box Office magazine.

J.B.; I added these theaters just for you:

The hardtop Grand Theater

At Fort Hood Palmer Theater

Be sure to check out the Fort Hood Map that should be fun, but lots of changes since the 60’s, and don’t forget to check out your journal. The 2 theaters may have not been on the post in the 60’s. If you know anyting about the Howze perhaps you or I should add it to CT. Perhaps you had other theaters on post back then?? You might want to check out the AAFES Website if you went to other posts. You can email me by clicking on my name.

P.S. Always have a flashlight with you (you never know when you might find an old closed theater that heappens to have it’s door unlocked).

I looked at all the theatre Circuits from my 1956 Motion picture Almanac, then state by state and couldn’t find one.Might have closed before 1956,J.E. Martin might have owned the downtown theatre.

Mike, do you know anything about a hardtop theater in Montezuma. I worked in that town in 1982, and people said there was a theater in the town but had been closed by that time and demolished.
