The original Ballarat Regent auditorium, designed by Cedric Ballantyne, bore a close resemblance to those of the Regents in South Yarra (the prototype in suburban Melbourne), Adelaide, Sydney and Auckland, New Zealand. It was burned out internally in 1943.
