The narrow entrance was located on Remsen Street between the Cohoes Hotel and the Masonic Building. Cohoes Opera House was opened prior to 1914. It later became the Empire Theatre, and then Proctor’s Theatre. In 1950, the by now renamed Empire Theatre was operated by the Fabian Theaters chain. It was demolished in the 1960’s.

The Empire was located on Remsen Street on the second floor of a retail building. It was demolished by the mid 1960’s, and the property is now a park.
