Palace Cinema

This was the third Palace Cinema in Tamworth. It was located on Lower Gungate close to the junction of Spring School Lane. The Palace Cinema was opened on 21st December 1976 with John Alderton in “It Shouldn’t Happen To A Vet”, and was designed by the London based architectural firm Elsom, Pack & Roberts.

The Palace Cinema was closed on 9th May 1991 with “Greencard”. Closure was due to the pending opening of the new UCI 10-screen multiplex, which opened on 26th June 1991.

The Palace Cinema is now in use as a bar known as ‘Casa’.
