Picture House

Located in Lydney, Gloucestershire. The Picture House opened in 1913. It had a 20 feet wide proscenium and a small stage.

In 1923 it was taken over by the Albany Ward Circuit. In September 1927 it was taken over by the Provincial Cinematograph Theatres(PCT) chain. They were taken over by Gaumont British Theatres chain in February 1929. Eventually by 1948 it had passed to J. Arthur Rank’s Circuits Management Association (CMA) circuit, which became the Rank Organisation.

CinemaScope was fitted in the mid-1950’s, and the Picture House was then taken over by the independent B.T. Davis circuit of Birmingham. The Picture House was closed in 1964.

It was later demolished together with adjacent buildings and a small parade of shops & residential units known as Forest Parade was built.
