The 4-Mile Drive-In opened on April 1, 1950, featuring “On an Island with You” with Esther Williams and Peter Lawford. The second feature was “Strawberry Roan” with Gene Autry. They were advertised has “Charleston’s Only Home-Owned Drive-Ins”.

The above address according to Google Maps points to the corner of Meeting Street & Pittsburgh. The diamond-shaped drive-in was located further south with the entrance across from what is now Discher St. (Formerly Birdie Garrett St.)
