Elco Theatre

The Elco Theatre was opened by Mr. Arthur Petit in 1913 in his former Dry Goods store. He lived above the theatre with his family. He was one of the pioneers bringing serial motion pictures to Charleston. The Elco Theatre was later purchased by Mr. Basil Kerr who operated the theatre until 1931. He closed the Elco Theatre when he purchased the Milo Theatre in the same block. The building is still in use, today as a restaurant. Any additional information on the Elco would be appreciated.
