Camlin Cinema

In Crumlin, County Antrim, the Camlin Cinema was opened by John James Hanlon in the 1920’s. Situated close to RAF Aldergrove (now Belfast International Airport) it was especially popular amongst the American troops stationed there during World War II. By 1948, according to the Kinematograph Year book, the Camlin Cinema was being operated by R. S. McIlwaine, of Crumlin. He was still the operator in 1954, but the Camlin Cinema had closed in 1962. It is not know what uses, if any. the building was put to after closure. The building had been demolished by June 2007 and the site, just off Main Street, was being used as a cattle market.
