Built in 1893 and open for business January 1, 1894, Dryden Opera House was primarily a live performance venue though movies were shown here from time to time starting around 1906. The Opera House continued as a performance venue until the early-1930’s, and was last used as an opera house for commencement exercises in June 1936. The next year the building was converted to residential use. It apparently remains in use as an apartment building today (even in its heyday, it rather looked like one), though it was extensively remodeled after a fire in the early-1960’s.
