Cine Europe

Located on the Place de la Gare, adjacent to the Cine Eldorado, outside Luxembourg Railway Station and the tram terminus. The Cine Europe was opened on 23rd December 1963, and all seating was on a single floor. The opening film was “Lawrence of Arabia” starring Peter O'Toole, and presented in Super-Panavision 70mm. Other 70mm films to play here include “Flying Clipper”, Grand Prix", The Sound of Music", “Old Shatterhand”, “Mary Poppins” and “It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”.

The Cine Europa was closed in November 1988 at the same time as the adjacent Cine Eldorado, and was demolished with its neighbour in 1989 to build a bank on the site of the two cinemas.
