The movie based on a true story. The director was Wolfgang Liebeneiner starring Ruth Leuwerik and Josef Meinrad

Later in 1965 Twentieth Century Fox produced a remake in TODD-AO 70 mm named Sound of Music starring Julie Andrews. It was also a big hit.
