The Abbey cinema was designed by Liverpool Architect Alfred Ernest Shennan who designed 24 cinemas, 21 of which were built within Liverpool. The picture on the wall behind Shennan is of the front of his most well known cinema the Forum Lime Street, which is also Grade II listed, however, this listing has no secure protection and must be Grade II* for security. The Forum has now been closed for 25 years and is a terrible internal state costing millions to restore!!!!
