Savoy Cinema

Located in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The Victoria Palace Cinema was opened on 2nd November 1914. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system on 17th October 1931, screening its first ‘talkie “Common Clay” starring Constance Bennett. It was taken over by the Leeds based Star Cinemas chain on 25th March 1940 and was re-named Savoy Cinema.

The Savoy Cinema was closed on 1st January 1960 with Kenneth Moore in “Genevieve” and on stage “Big Beat Rhythm Show 1960”. It became a furniture store.
