Actual opening day was March 5th 1999. I remember distinctly heavy snow that night. Weather records confirm 5.3 inches of snow on March 5 1999.

In theater #5, Cinemark XD (Extreme Digital) has been installed and opened in November, 2022. Recliner seats were installed in 2019.

They have recently added Real-3D projection in this theater. Hopefully they will show “Monsters vs. Aliens” as its first feature in Real 3D.

The architect of the Cinemark Melrose 10 was Kip E. Daniel. Here’s a pdf file about the construction of this theater. It mistakenly adds an “s” to the end of his name. Kip E. Daniel is a principal and a managing director of the Beck Group, a design-build firm headquartered in Dallas, which has built numerous multiplex cinemas for Cinemark and other exhibitors.

Theatres 5 and 6 would be a good retro-fit for 70MM projection.

Yesterday I was privileged to view the rough cut of The Passion of the Christ the Mel Gibson film. I am hopeful that you will be one of the theaters showing it when it is released on February 25.

If you are going to be showing it starting the 25th, I would like to discuss with you the possibility of having a private showing on Monday or Tuesday night, February 23 or 24 at 7 p.m.preferably Tuesday at the Cinemark in Melrose Park. Many of my parishioners are most interested in seeing it, and this would enable our church family to have opportunity to see the film and then recommend it to others. I do not know the logistics of renting the theater for the evening, but would be very thankful if we could work together on this.

I would appreciate your letting me know whether this is even an option. Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Dr. David A. Worth
Senior Pastor

The Cinemark Melrose Park also contains three concession stands, an elevator (for theater #5 and #6), a video arcade, and a Studio Eats cafe.
