The Cinema on Bridge Street was opened by Dan Crotty on Easter Monday 1914 next door to his garage. It was equipped with a stage for presenting variety performances and had three dressing rooms. The proscenium was 30ft wide. The building also contained a dance hall. When sound came it was equipped with a RCA sound system. The larger Ormonde Cinema opened in 1945 and the Cinema was closed soon after March 1946. The garage building stills exists but the site of the cinema is now Murphy’s Bar and Waves Nightclub.

Appears to have been still screening films in March 1946 although it couldn’t have lasted for much longer than that.
