Located in the small village of Waterhouses, half a mile to the south of Esh Winning, County Durham. Originally built as a New Connexion Chapel, the Gaiety Picture House was opened in 1914, just prior to the outbreak of World War I. It was closed in 1929 and was never equipped for sound films.
