The Ambassade Cine was opened as a 450-seat single screen cinema in 1948. It was taken over by Georges Heylen in 1962.
In 1980 four screens with seating for 54, 60, 73 and 81 were added in the basement and they were named Club 1-2-3-4. In 1992 it it was taken over by the Sinjoor group and re-named Sinjoor Cine. The Club 1-2-3-4 cinemas were closed on 27th August 1993 and the Sinjoor Cine main auditorium was closed on 3rd September 1993. It was demolished and the Gaumont/UGC multiplex was built on an enlarged site.
