Ritz Cinema

Located in Ballinrobe, County Mayo. The Ritz Cinema was located in the former Maple Ballroom and had opened by 1959 according to press advertisements. It is first listed in the Kine Year Book of 1963 when it was run by Mrs Drops and had a Western Electric(WE) sound system fitted. It is noted as being owned by Ritz Cinema (Ballinrobe) Ltd. in the 1971 edition of the Kine Year Book. It must have closed during the early-1970’s as it was advertised as reopening on 8th July 1976 under new management. It was still going in 1979 but the closure date is unclear. The building has housed a youth centre for a number of years now.
