Open as early as 1953 on Highway 218, the Charles City Drive-In was operated by L. Wegener and Central States Theatres. By 1955 it was operated by Frank Ruble and Central States Theatres. It was closed by 1967 when in aerial view only the ramps and concession/projector both remained. Today the site is a field with absolutely no trace of the drive-in remaining.

Faint hints of the ramps could be seen in a 1994 aerial photo. However, the construction of US HWY 18 put the property under one of the entrance/exit ramps, so no trace remains.
traces of it did survive until 2015 though.
