Mimosa Drive-In

The Mimosa Drive-In opened in 1954 with M. L. Dubose as the operator. He operated it until 1966 when Frank Chamrod leased the indoor Majestic Theater and the drive in from Dubose. The last operator of the Mimosa Drive-In was Arcenio Garcia, with the drive in closing in 1987. The concession building was two story with the projection booth on top and located in back of the lot. The screen was gone by 2003 and the land had been cleaned up. The concession building was still standing in 2015, but in bad shape.

then why did it not appear at the location in the 1977 topo map either they made a mistake and missed it or this was short lived drive-in.

Or, topo maps are notorious for not including everything. I don’t know how many times a topo map has either not shown a drive-in when it was there or shown it when the drive-in was long gone.

Bottom line, a topo map is simply not enough to go on by itself.

999 North Main Street, Cotulla, TX puts it virtually right on the remains of the drive-in.

In 2020, the old projection booth was still standing, but in bad shape in back of the old drive in property.
