Victory Cinema

Located in Fatfield to the south of Washington, County Durham, and north of Houghton le Spring. The North Biddick Colliery Miners' Welfare Hall was built in 1909. It was later re-named Gem Cinema and all seats were on a single floor. Later still, possibly after the end of World War II it was re-named Victory Cinema. A closing date is not known. In later years it was used for storage by the North East Direct Supply Company, who delivered ‘pop’ (soft drinks) door to door. The building was demolished in the 1970’s.
