Cine Monumental

Located on one of the main avenues in the city centre, next to the historic central market building (Mercado Central de Alicante). The Monumental Salon Mederno was opened on 21st December 1924 with “La Dama de Monsereau”. It was designed by architect Don Manuel Navarro. Seating was provided for 1,072 in the orchestra level, 634 in the 1st balcony and 530 in the 2nd balcony. The two balconies were supported by iron columns.

In 1977 the entrance was moved around the corner onto Calle de Capitan Segarra. The Cine Monumental was closed on 5th November 2000. It has been demolished and a building containing a bank, medical facilities and apartments now stands on the site.
