The Cinema Filmtheater was opened on 21st December 1955 and was operated by Erich Menz based in Essen. He also operated cinemas in Stuttgart. Architect Heinrich Geiss designed the cinema. The colours of the auditorium were red, brown & blue. The size of the CinemaScope screen was 9.5 x 4.5 meters. Two curtains were in front of the screen. The E VIII projectors were by Ernemann and a 4-channel sterophonic sound system was installed. The seats were by Schroeder & Henzelmann. The Cinema Filmtheater screened art house movies.

It was closed around 1971 and was demolished.

The Bali Bahnhofslichtspiele Altstadt was re-named (Neues) Cinema Filmtheater and has its own page on Cinema Threasures.
