Rex Filmtheater

The single screen Rex Filmtheater was opened on 12th October 1955 and was operated by Willi Goldermann & Dr. Hans Bruggemann. The cinema was designed by architects Hans Nehause & Herbert Hauer. Seating was provided in orchestra & balcony levels and the colours of the auditorium were grey & green. The seats were by Schroeder & Henzelmann. The size of the CinemaScope screen was 5.2 x 10.7 meters and a 4-channel stereophonic sound system was installed. The FP 6 projectors were by Phillips.

Around 1980 the cinema was tripled and the auditoriums were named Movie, Oscar & Sunset. The seating capacities were 236,126 and 100, In 1991 it was taken over by Ufa Theater AG Olympic Filmtheaterbetriebe Riech & Sohn OHG. The cinema was closed on 23rd March 2000 and became a discotheque named Rex Club.
