Bijou Theatre

This theatre is shown on the 1908 Sanborn, operating in the ground floor of the Odd Fellows Temple, which was built sometime between 1891 and 1896. The theatre would have been fairly short and broad. There was a shallow stage at the rear. On the 1901 map, the ground floor is home to a billiard hall.

This theatre was not long-lived, and by 1914, the ground floor has been carved up into three storefronts. The structure was used as retail recently, but the sidewalk in front is barricaded in the 2018 streetview. Given Connellsville’s precipitous decline over the past 5 decades, this structure may have been lost.
