Basin Drive-In

The Basin Drive-In was first constructed and equipped by the Service Theatre Corporation of Salt Lake (not Salt Lake City) and is located on one and a half miles east on Highway 40. The Basin Drive-In opened its gates by constructor, owner, operator, and employee for the ticket-booth Themis Costuros on March 30, 1956 at 6:30 PM with the hit smashes “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” starring Howard Keel and “It Remains To Be Seen” starring June Allyson. It had been demolished by 1961.

According to the Roosevelt Standard prior to its opening day, the following workers and managers were listed: Mrs. Betty Alexander is the cashier, Ms. LaRean Meyer is an employee at the snack bar, Fritz Hansen is the usher, and lastly Keith Walker and Phillip Merkley taken over as projection.

Found It!

The address is 704 1500 E, Ballard, UT.

The drive-in appears to have not lasted long as a 1961 aerial shows it to be demolished.

Today, three businesses sit on the property, but you can still clearly see the ramps on the east side.

According To The Roosevelt Journal, The Theater Appears To Be Located Right Next To Union High School.

The address for the drive-in is across the street from the high school to the northeast.
