Gem Theatre

The Wenatchee World mentions three locations for the Gem Theatre, the first being March 11, 1909, in the Rosenberg Building (address unknown) in a room formerly occupied by the Seattle Bar. The first managers were A.J. Ritz and F. Demers but musical chairs of managers were mentioned over the years.

On October 22, 1909, because of construction in the Rosenberg Building, the Gem Theatre opened with 600 seats in the Olympia Building at 2 N. Wenatchee Avenue, which was completed in September 1908 and still stands. On March 12, 1913, Bert MaGee moved the Gem Theatre to the Tupper Building at 28 N. Wenatchee Avenue. Mr. Magee was also operator of the Wenatchee Theatre.

In 1914 Mr. Magee took charge of the first Gem Theatre, renamed the Dream Theatre, in the Olympia Building from another party.

The Gem Theatre at 28 N. Wenatchee Avenue was missing from Sanborn Maps 1928 and was last listed in Film Daily Year Book 1929.
