Cupids Theatre

The 1911 Sanborn shows a theatre operating in a small one-story brick building. This structure dated to sometime before 1885, and had most recently been a saloon. During conversion to a cinema, old bakery facilities at the rear had been replaced by a wooden structure that was the full width of the building, and thus made the small seating area a bit deeper. A large wooden awning was retained on the front of the building.

This was a very small, and doubtless very basic, attempt to capitalize on the movie craze, and by 1926, the building is vacant. After being modified again, it served as a dealership on the 1948 map, and today only the rear section of the dealership structure remains.
