After the completion of the New Theatre’s construction during Thanksgiving week of 1937 after being erected a week prior, Mr. Wyatt Bedford, the operator, opened the area’s New Theatre on December 20, 1937 with The Marx Brothers in “A Day At The Races”, along with Happy Harmonies “The Pups’ Christmas”. Mr. Wyatt Bedford of Vina, Alabama was notable at the time on thinking for him to operate while working on the building. It was closed in 1944 after loosing out to the new Marion Theatre (also in Hamilton) which opened in 1943 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

The story is mostly incomplete so the hunt still continues.
