Located in Moorends to the northeast of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The Empire Cinema was opened on 24th May 1931, It had a 30ft wide proscenium and a 50ft deep stage. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. The Empire Cinema was closed on 28th February 1952 when it was severely damaged in a fire.
Eventually some repairs were carried out and it reopened as a bingo club around 1960. It has since been closed and Moorends Library now stands on the site.
