Princess Theatre

This theatre had a truly ephemeral existence. It was located in the ground floor of a two story brick commercial building which was constructed in 1886.

It appears only on the 1913 Sanborn as a ‘Moving Picture Theatre’ with the note ‘To Vacate’. It actually opened on November 3, 1913 and closed in 1918. Having been a saloon in 1906, the 1921 map shows a millinery there.

Though it has suffered a rather dreary remodel to the storefront, which bears an unsightly shingle awning, the upper floor is well preserved, and the building now houses a portion of the clothing store next door to the east.

As can just be made out from the street, the building was built in 1886.
