The current Royale Theatre building was built in 1910 to replace an earlier Royale Theatre destroyed in an arson fire that year. The new Royale Theatre, designed by local architect Fred C. Hurst, opened on June 2, 1910 with a live stage presentation, but soon began showing movies. It was still in operation as late as early-1916, but appears to have closed by 1919.

In 2021 the building, part of the Bisbee Historic District, became the home of the Artemizia Annex, a commercial gallery for contemporary art operated by the Bisbee-based non-profit Artemizia Foundation.
