The sign at the top says: ‘Gala Opening Friday March 9th THE REGENT All Proceeds to Charity’. Below the six Corinthian columns are seven shops along the street front. On site parking was originally available for 300 cars - accessed through the private laneway on the left. It appears there was considerable space available behind the next door premises in a former timber yard - where the Trocadero dance hall would be built eight years later. A further 200 spaces were available across the road in Wilmot Street for patron parking, also at no cost.
