The Ideal Theatre was opened by 1933. The 1950 Film Daily Year Book included the 495-seat Ideal Theatre as one of Johnstown’s 15-theatres.

The July 14, 1958 issue of Boxoffice wrote: “The Ideal Theatre, Johnstown, darkened July 9. This leaves open and operating only one unit of the former Ideal Amusement Co. circuit, an enterprise directed by Cuba Walker. The house continuing in the business is the Vernon Theatre at Barnesboro”.
