During a period from 1910 to 1920, tiny Soper, Oklahoma saw its largest population jump to an all-time high of just over 500 residents. That was enough to have a movie theatre, the Queen Theatre, which operated from 1914 until 1926 not making the conversion to sound.

The theatre’s operation was briefly located in another building under the temporary name of the Soper Theatre as the new home was being prepared. Bookings were played until the Queen Theatre took her throne. The new Huneke Building would house the Queen Theatre on its main floor beginning March 16, 1914 with its Universal film contract playing “The Stepmother” and Mary Ruby in “One of the Bravest” and Florence Lawrence in “The Stepmother”.

Mrs. White of Antlers was the Queen Theatre’s final operator and appears to have closed with silent films on August 28, 1926 with “The Avenger” with Guinn ‘Big Boy’ Williams supported by “Wonders of Nature”. It does not appear that the town ever had another movie theatre.
