Located in the New Wortley district in the west of Leeds. The Crown Electric Cinema was opened on 18th September 1911. It was designed by architect J.P. Crawford of Harehills, Leeds. It had 600 tip-up seats. Initially operated by Mr. Alfred Higgins, from 26th September 1914 it was operated by the West Riding Cinema Co. Ltd.

The Crown Electric Cinema was closed in September 1916 when West Riding Cinema Co. Ltd. in anticipation of the opening of their new Crown Cinema on Tong Road, Wortley (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures) which due to World War I conditions didn’t open until 31st March 1919.
