The Silvertown Theatre was the up the street neighbor of the smaller Ritz Theatre which opened in 1929. The Silvertown Theatre opened by 1931. Although both venues were in steady operation for decades (still open in 1957), Thomaston was not able to sustain two movie places and the Silvertown Theatre was demolished to make way for a drugstore.
