Gem Theatre and Airdome

This simple theatre and the associated Airdome appear on the 1914 map having opened in 1913. This area is a vacant lot on the 1909 map. Both were basic structures of tin-clad wood. Presumably the Airdome was used in pleasant weather, and the indoor portion was reserved for winter or rain. It was closed in 1920.

The 1927 map shows the theatre buildings removed, although the little shacks associated with other businesses remain. The site today is occupied by a drab little ‘modern’ structure and a parking lot.
