The theatre opened as the Pythian Temple Theatre on October 12, 1900 with the stage presentation “Old Jed Prouty” starring Richard Colden. Seating was provided for 500. In 1902 it was renamed Pythaian Theatre. It was remodeled in February 1941 and was renamed Strand Theatre. The Strand Theatre was operated by Affiliated Theatres Inc. of Indianapolis. There was a fire on July 22, 1957 that destroyed the Strand Theatre.

This theater started life as the Pythian Temple Theatre when it opened its doors on October 12, 1900 with a live presentation of “Old Jed Prouty” starring Richard Colden. It became simply known as the Pythian Theatre a couple of years later.

It was renamed Strand Theatre in February 1941, and the building was destroyed by a fire on July 22, 1957.
