On March 9, 1940, Boxoffice noted, “B. C. Elliott’s new Broadway Theatre has been opened at Prestonsburg”. It was destroyed by fire in 1942. It was later rebuilt.

The 1950 Film Daily Year Book listed four theatres for Prestonsburg: the Abigail Theatre, listed with an address of 211 Court Street. and a capacity of 594, the Elkhorn Theatre (Main Street, 200), the Princess Theatre(Main Street, 300), and the Broadway Theatre (N. Main Street, 400).

In an item datelined Prestonsburg, the January 3, 1942 Showmen’s Trade Review reported that “[t]he Broadway Theatre was destroyed by fire at an estimated loss of $30,000. W. B. Boyd was the operator.” As the house was still being listed in 1950, it was presumably rebuilt.
