Located in Madeira, the Castello Lopes cinema on the 1st floor of the MadeiraShopping shopping centre was opened in 2001 under ownership from Socorama Cinemas SA. In January 2013, Socorama closed the cinema along with 69 of their other venues, due to a failed agreement with the Sonae Sierra group. In August that year, Brazilian company Orient Cinemas announced they would take over operation of 60 of the former Castello Lopes cinemas, reopening the MadeiraShopping cinema on 12 September 2013.
