Grand Opera House

Built sometime between 1901 and 1909, this was a fine three story brick structure with some use of multicolored brick on the facade. Rather boxy in appearance, with large windows, it could be said to be roughly Prairie style.

By 1914 movies were being shown here. The building still appears on the January 1925 map, but later that year it was drastically remodeled into the P.A. Leese building, losing the upper story, and having the entire front replaced.

The Capitol Theatre, listed separately on Cinema Treasures, began operation there when work was completed.
